Buy-and-Hold Accumulation (signal-gated / scheduled DCA)

What it does: Buys a fixed amount on daily dips and holds for the long term; never sells. This buys a fixed amount each time daily RSI climbs back above 30 after a sell-off, and never sells. RSI is a 0-100 gauge of recent buying versus selling; below 30 means heavy selling.

Style: Accumulation · Difficulty: Beginner · Risk: low · Ready: 1 of 2 variants

When people use it: It suits long-term holders who want to buy dips gradually instead of all at once.

Markets it was written for: BTC, ETH (spot only). Timeframes: 1d.

Open it in the Strategy Library (on the Strategies page), pick a variant, adjust the settings and press Add to my strategies. It becomes your own strategy: edit, backtest or trade it like any other.

Settings

Setting Default Editable What changing it does
Amount per buy 50 No: trade setting, set it when you create a trade How much (in your quote currency, for example USDT) each buy spends. Higher builds the position faster but spends your budget faster; lower spreads purchases out. The number of buys depends on how often the signal happens, not on this setting.

How it works (as shown in the app)

  • This buys a fixed amount each time daily RSI climbs back above 30 after a sell-off, and never sells. RSI is a 0-100 gauge of recent buying versus selling; below 30 means heavy selling.
  • Every new signal buys again, so your position grows over time. There is no exit and no stop-loss: it is built for long-term holding.
  • It suits long-term holders who want to buy dips gradually instead of all at once.
  • In long bear markets it keeps buying while the price falls, and it has no exit, so losses can stay open for a long time.
  • There is no total budget cap yet. Check how much you are willing to spend in total and watch your balance.
  • Spot only: no leverage.

Scheduled weekly buy

Buys a fixed amount every week on a schedule and holds for the long term; never sells.

Labels: Accumulation, Long, Spot, Beginner, Slow

Coming later

This needs scheduled buys (every few days or weeks), a feature that's coming. You can read how it will work, but you can't add it to your strategies yet.

Settings

Setting Default Editable What changing it does
Amount per buy 50 No: coming later How much (in your quote currency, for example USDT) each weekly buy spends. Higher builds the position faster and spends more each week; lower spreads it out. It buys once a week whatever the price does, so the total you spend is this amount times the number of weeks it runs.

How it works (as shown in the app)

  • This buys a fixed amount on a fixed weekly schedule (every Monday at 00:00 UTC) and never sells. It does not wait for a signal: it buys at whatever the price is that week.
  • Each week buys again, so your position grows steadily over time. There is no exit and no stop-loss: it is built for long-term holding.
  • It suits long-term holders who want to spread their buying evenly over time instead of trying to pick the moment.
  • In long bear markets it keeps buying while the price falls, and it has no exit, so losses can stay open for a long time.
  • There is no total budget cap yet. The total you spend is the amount per buy times the number of weeks it runs, so check that against your balance.
  • Spot only: no leverage.
  • Coming later: this version needs scheduled (time-based) buys, which Apathia doesn't have yet, so it can't be imported or run today.

Warnings

  • Once added, the strategy's conditions get the usual condition checks. Messages show under each condition on the entry / exit conditions screen; setting errors start with the indicator's short name (for example "MACD: Fast must be between 1 and 1000") and block saving, while the other warnings never block saving and repeat in the strategy's Entry or Exit section. See the indicator pages below for each one.
  • "You already have this strategy with these settings (…). Change a setting to add another copy.": shown on the variant's page in the Strategy Library when you already added this variant with the same settings.

Good to know

  • After you add it, the strategy keeps the library's trigger and an Auto main timeframe; you can change both in the builder. Nothing links it back to the library, except that the builder still shows the library's explanations in the info bubbles.
  • Changing a setting before adding it also changes the saved name, so you can tell copies apart.
  • Past results don't predict future ones. Try it in a backtest and on paper before using real money.
  • Indicators used: RSI.
