Indicators

Every indicator you can add on the Indicators page and use in a strategy's conditions. Each page says what it shows, its settings and defaults, its ready-made conditions and the warnings you may see.

Indicators are only signals about the past; past results don't predict future ones.

Momentum oscillators

Indicator Shows
RSI (Relative Strength Index) How strongly the price has been rising or falling lately, from 0 to 100.
Stoch (Stochastic Oscillator) Where the close sits within the high-low range of the last few candles, from 0 (at the lowest low) to 100 (at the highest high).
StochRSI (Stochastic RSI) The Stochastic idea applied to RSI instead of price: where RSI sits within its own recent range, 0 to 100.
CRSI (Connors RSI) A fast oscillator from 0 to 100 that blends three things: a very short RSI of the close, an RSI of how many candles in a row price has gone up or down (the "streak"), and how today's change ranks against the last 100 candles.
CCI (Commodity Channel Index) How far the typical price (average of high, low and close) is from its recent average, scaled so that most values fall between -100 and +100.
WILLR (Williams %R) Where the close sits within the high-low range of the last few candles, on a scale from -100 (at the lowest low) to 0 (at the highest high).
CMO (Chande Momentum Oscillator) The balance of recent up-moves and down-moves, from -100 (all down) to +100 (all up).
UO (Ultimate Oscillator) Buying pressure measured over three windows at once (short, medium and long) and blended into one number from 0 to 100.
MFI (Money Flow Index) An RSI that also uses volume: the balance of money flowing in and out, from 0 to 100.
ROC (Rate of Change) How much the close has changed, in percent, compared with a set number of candles ago.
MOM (Momentum) How much the close has changed, in price units, compared with a set number of candles ago.
AO (Awesome Oscillator) The gap between a short and a long average of each candle's middle price.
APO (Absolute Price Oscillator) The gap, in price units, between a fast and a slow moving average of the close.
MACD (Moving Average Convergence Divergence) The gap between a fast and a slow moving average of the close (the MACD line), plus a smoothed copy of it (the signal line).
TSI (True Strength Index) A doubly smoothed measure of price momentum, plus a signal line.
BOP (Balance of Power) Whether buyers or sellers controlled the recent candles: how far each candle closed from its open, compared with its whole range, averaged over a few candles.
DPO (Detrended Price Oscillator) Price with the longer trend taken out, so short up-and-down cycles are easier to see.

Trend and direction

Indicator Shows
ADX (Average Directional Index) How strong the trend is, from 0 to 100, without saying which way.
Aroon (Aroon Indicator) How recently price made its highest high (Aroon Up) and its lowest low (Aroon Down) in a window, each from 0 to 100.
Vortex Indicator Two lines: +VI measures upward movement, −VI downward movement over a window.
CHOP (Choppiness Index) Whether the market is trending or moving sideways, from 0 to 100.
PSAR (Parabolic SAR) A trail of dots below price in an uptrend and above price in a downtrend.
Supertrend A line below price in an uptrend and above it in a downtrend, set a distance away based on recent volatility (how much price usually moves).
CE (Chandelier Exit) Two stop lines: the long stop hangs a few ATRs (a measure of how much price usually moves) below the highest high, and the short stop sits a few ATRs above the lowest low.
ICHI (Ichimoku Cloud) A set of lines that show trend, momentum and support at a glance.
HA (Heikin-Ashi candles) Smoothed candles.

Volatility, bands and channels

Indicator Shows
ATR (Average True Range) How much price usually moves per candle (volatility), in price units.
NATR (Normalized Average True Range) ATR as a percent of the close: how much price usually moves per candle, in percent.
TR (True Range) The full size of each candle's move, including any gap from the previous close, in price units.
BB (Bollinger Bands) A middle line (a simple moving average) with a band above and below it.
%B (Bollinger Bands %B) Where the close sits inside the Bollinger Bands: 0 at the lower band, 1 at the upper band, 0.5 in the middle.
BBW (Bollinger BandWidth) How wide the Bollinger Bands are, as a percent of the middle line.
KC (Keltner Channels) A middle line (an EMA) with bands above and below, set a distance away based on ATR (how much price usually moves).
Donchian Channels The highest high and the lowest low of the last few candles, with a middle line halfway between.
SQZ (TTM Squeeze) Whether the market is very quiet ("squeeze on": the Bollinger Bands are inside a Keltner channel) and a momentum line that shows which way price is pushing.

Levels

Volume How much was traded in each candle, and its average over a set number of candles.
OBV (On-Balance Volume) A running total of volume: volume is added on candles that close higher and subtracted on candles that close lower.
AD (Accumulation/Distribution) A running total of volume weighted by where each candle closed in its range: near the high adds, near the low subtracts.
ADOSC (Accumulation/Distribution Oscillator) The momentum of the Accumulation/Distribution line: the gap between a fast and a slow average of it.
CMF (Chaikin Money Flow) Whether volume has been mostly buying or selling over a window, from -1 to +1, based on where each candle closed in its range.
